Climb every Mountain

Talk about getting into everything, Clay has now figured out how to climb. So much for my sorry attempts to contain him. We were able to catch him on tape, not climbing over pillows but daddy. He is growing so fast and things are starting to get interesting. I guess that it's time to really baby-proof the house. Also Clay had his first lightning and thunderstorm. Oddly enough he just slept through the entire thing almost better then he normally does. I really enjoyed it because we were able to get a little rain out of the whole thing. Today the news was all about flash flood preparedness. Good times. Well that's what's happening here for now, I'll keep you all up on our lives, well Clay's anyway.

We thought this was funny. Today was the second time Clay has ever had bananas. The first time that he ate them he liked them, I thought. Tonight when he had them the reaction that we got was priceless. Just some good times that I wanted to share.

Big Trouble

On Sunday of this week, Colby and I had left Clay with all of his toys so that we could eat dinner. I had built what I call a fort but Colby calls it a coral. Anyway, when Colby and I had finished dinner and was starting to put it away, we realized that Clay had gone the entire meal without crying. So I went over to check on him. That's when I realized why he was so quiet. Somehow amid all of his "safe" toys a pen had fallen off the couch. And you can only imagine what Clay had done with that pen. In case you can't imagine, we took video of it. We really are good parents and do the very best to keep him safe, I guess now we realize just how fast things can happen, even with you in the same room. While it was extremely funny, we do understand that it could have been so much worse.

Clay loved this box and kept trying to get into it. So Colby helped him out by putting him in it. Little did we know that it would end up being so funny. Take a look

Celebrating our Independence

We had a blast this last fourth of July. Clay had his first parade and first fireworks. It was great to actually go to a parade with Colby, can you believe that it's the first one since we've been married. So I guess it was a first in a way for all of us. We went to Boulder City to watch and had so much fun. We were able to sit in the shade for a while until it started and then we moved out to the street. Clay loved all of it and we did too. I love having a baby now because they threw us candy and it was just more fun to go.

Narcoleptic Clay

One more thing. While we were swimming on Monday, Natalie was holding Clay. He was talking to her and laughing then he stopped which he often does to listen to you talk back. Which is exactly what she started to do. As good of a listener Clayton is, he will cut you off and take over the conversation again. Not this time Natalie looked under his hat to see if he was just distracted or something, and he was completely out. We laughed and took him home to nap. Later when Colby got home, he was holding him and we we're all talking. When we looked back at Colby, we noticed that Clay was completely out again. I guess my family really tuckered him out.

We hurried and took this picture when we got home to prove that Clay really did fall asleep in the pool. Don't make fun I've been swimming and look terrible.

Summer Fun

This past weekend my sisters and brother came down to visit and we took Clay to the pool for the first time. He wasn't so sure about it in the beginning, I think that it was because he had a onesie on and usually when he's wet he's not wearing anything. We've been a few time since then and he's starting to get the hang of it. He's started to kick his legs and splash is arms. Such a cute little frog.

On The Move

Clayton has now discovered he is mobile. It's so funny to watch and his is much better at it now then he was a week ago (which is when this video was taken). At the same time, it makes me a little nervous. I guess now I'm going to have to baby-proof the house. Anything he can get his hands on he does and many time he starts to head for the cords, I have to be even more careful now. So I know that this video isn't very good because he quit performing when the camera came out (Naturally).

This is the story of our lives right now, we're trying to help Clay to fall asleep in his own bed. It's really hard on both of us right now. We know that in the long run this is the best thing that we can do for him, but it really does hurt to listen to him cry. It just breaks my heart. If there are any suggestions out there of what we could do, let us know. We're not desperate or anything just realizing that it could be better.

Solid Food

Clay has started to enjoy solid foods. We on the other hand have not. While it is hillarious to watch him eat now and to grimmis at some of the things that go in his mouth, some of the new developments are not so hillarious. Things that come out of his mouth and um... the other end. I can show you better then I can tell you. Take a look at one of Colby's close encounters.

This is what he looks like when he's eating. Now he needs a bath after every meal. He loves carrots, but green beans fat chance. Also doesn't really like the fruit (he is his father's son). My one mission is to make sure that Clay is not as picky as me. I want him to enjoy food all foods. So far so good.
